# Product research, ready for your workflow

Research Agent identifies the product in a query and returns compatible alternatives with the technical detail needed to evaluate a substitution. Submit a model number, part number, or natural-language description and receive structured results your application can use.

**Identify**

Resolve a short query into a manufacturer, model, description, image, and specifications.

**Compare**

Review ranked alternatives with specifications and plain-language match reasoning.

**Act**

Detect SIBI availability, pricing, and checkout links when a candidate is orderable.

## How a request works

1. **Create a task**

    Send the product identifier or description to your assigned Research Agent.

2. **Poll the task**

    Use the returned `statusUrl` until the task is `complete` or `failed`.

3. **Use the result**

    Read the identified product, candidate replacements, pricing, availability, and match reasoning.

4. **Continue when needed**

    If Research Agent asks a clarifying question, reply on the same task and resume polling.
